Wooden foundry pattern originally used in the process of casting architectural metalwork components by the architectural ironwork company Singer & James Ltd.
Singer and James were a renowned British metalwork company that created various decorative and structural elements for noted buildings throughout the UK including metalwork at Billingsgate fish market.
The creation of these patterns was a skilled time consuming craft prior to laser technology and a specialised industrial art unto itself. Crafted to accurate designs, each pattern made would be unique to the company using the finished cast components.
What was once a functional vintage industrial item, now provides great appeal as a one-off piece of wall art or decorative display item.
